It depends on the material of the cable tie, its width and the type of fastener. A 4.8 mm wide PA 66 (nylon) flange with a standard head can withstand up to 22 kgf, a 9.00 mm wide flange up to 80kgf. It is essential to consult the manufacturer's specifications to use the correct flange.

How to cut a cable tie correctly without damaging the wiring?
The most effective way is to use a cable tie tensioning tool which, while applying the exact tightening force in an ergonomic way, cuts off the excess material. You can also use a cutting tool with a fine and controlled tip, such as an electrician's scissors or specific pliers for cable ties. Avoid using blades or sharp elements that may damage nearby cables.
Do the cable ties come in different colors for aesthetics or for coding?
Both reasons are valid. Although some are chosen for visual reasons, many industrial facilities use colors to identify zones, circuits or types of wiring, which is an effective way to maintain order.
What is the service life of a flange?
The duration varies according to the composition of the material, i.e. whether it has sun protection additives or not, the environment and the conditions of use. The degree of humidity is a basic factor in the life of a cable tie, as they require a minimum of humidity to maintain their properties. With the specific material and the right environment, they can last up to 10 years or even longer. In outdoor or aggressive environments, the service life is reduced, so it is advisable to periodically check their condition.
